I have an analog model of a single Unit implant crown. I have a desktop scanner as well. I want to digitize the model and mill a custom Titanium abutment.

Do I need to scan the model once for gingiva and a second time with the scanbody in? The tissue is about 4 MM deep so the scan body does not show much. Is there a solution for this? Special “Lab Scanbodies”? It is why I made an analog impression. Thanks

I would take one scan without the scan body. Call that your gingiva scan. Then I would grind the model away to expose the analog platform and get a good visual on the entire scan body.

There are lab scan bodies available for some systems, but I would just stick with one type. Too many components.
