If making a lower interim RPD for someone missing all lower posterior teeth, would you ise the RPD framework module, the denture module, or the path used in the interim RPD course? There are no teeth to COPY, so I am unsure how to register this case.

If I’m making an interim partial, I’m going to use pontic waxup design. I’m not familiar enough with PartialCAD to design the framework there.

What do you mean “register” the case? Do you mean how to define the case in DentalDB, or do you mean how to register the meshes for the bite registration?

I was referring to “Case Definition”.

Gotcha. You can’t use the denture module unless you’re doing a full denture. The denture module incorporates a full arch of teeth, so it nixes that idea.

You can use PartialCAD, but that is a more complicated workflow.

If I’m just doing an interim partial and I’m not needing it long term, I’ll set it up as pontic waxup. For the “scan waxup” definition option, select “No, design waxup digitally”.

Then if its posterior do you merge the teeth with the gingiva and print in one material, or keep separate and bond them in?

The wizard asks for a gingiva design, and then later asks for 2 seperate gingiva designs. Is that because I connected the anatomic pontics?

There’s a popup that asks if you want a single gingiva for all teeth, or individual gingiva. I’m guessing you clicked for individual gingiva and only designed for a single tooth.

DentalCAD displays the full contour tooth for the gingiva that you are designing, so if you don’t see all the teeth, you’ve clicked the wrong gingiva option.

I am not seeing the pop-up but I do keep seeing one set of teeth – is the pop-up in the workorder or the design step?

ok – I found the error – for some reason when the pop-up appears, if I click one gingiva for all pontics, the next screen seems to only show teeth 19-21, nothing on the other side. So I clicked on Expert mode and was able to design the full base of gingiva. Do you recommend that my pontics be connected at case definition?

              Thanks

I don’t recommend using connectors for removables. I usually print the teeth in MFH resin and the base in NextDent 3D+ and bond the teeth in. There’s less work to make them look presentable.

Do you think we could make a course of that workflow not using the reduced pontics? I tried to do that but the pontic teeth would not index into the gingiva well. Do I need to ADAPT pontics to gingiva before creating VIRTUAL G?
